Once when I was 19 or 20, home from college for the summer, my Dad caught me walking out of my bedroom crying. He asked me what was wrong…and I told him I didn’t know what was the matter…felt stupid about it and was pretty sure he was going to agree that it was dumb. Instead, he responded with: “Sometimes we just need a cry.” He didn’t try to stifle, invalidate, or “fix” it – it was okay to have a good cry and let it out.

If you need to…go ahead…if you’re not sure…go ahead anyway. I’ve never not felt better (even if only a little bit) after a good cry. I forgot that today…

Feel your feelings, guys. It’s going to be alright.
