There’s something “secret” I do when I create and it’s really something just for me but somehow seems appropriate to share with you at this moment.
I start all my work with a heart, every motif is built with some sort of heart element included. Sometimes it’s implied in the negative spaces or more overt. Sometimes I arrange elements in heart-shaped spirals that get lost in the repeat. But I can always find it for myself, I like knowing it’s there.
Why do I do this? I’ve done it for so long, creating this ritual for myself. Hearts have always been “my thing.”
When I begin creating I’m thinking:
Do everything in love.
1 Corinthians 16:14
It helps ground me in my purpose. I even created a mug with the verse on it when I started working full-time for myself, making the shift from traditional graphic design to surface design.

Can you find the hearts in this sunflower pattern? It’s a bit easier to spot on the wallpaper. ♡
