simple accents

I spent almost half a Saturday drying oranges in my oven. No, really! The house smelled so good. If you’ve seen dried citrus in holiday garland, wreaths, potpourri, or hanging on a Christmas tree (which you probably have, the images are everywhere) and wanted to try it, it’s very easy. All you need is oranges […]

for the storytellers

Recently I read a tweet reshared by someone that went something like this: Your art doesn’t have to have a deeper meaning or tell a story to be valid. Hmmm…my eyebrows lifted a bit. Do I agree? Well, yes, I agree that your art is valid. I get that the tweet/statement is meant to help […]

from my desktop

At the beginning of this year, I was creating so many different types of work that switching gears/finding my place (where was I again?) got to be a frustrating exercise. It was clear I was going to have to purge a lot of extraneous files (all those final, final, final proofs, etc.), stop treating my […]

hey, boo-tiful!

First, you should know there is a new BOO-tiful Ghosty free mock-up on the Designer Resources page. Second, I’m working on a new collection inspired by hand-painted wall coverings, mark-making, and heirloom linens. I’m not really a “Halloween Person” but I’m good with “Falloween.” This year has flown by and I’m thankful. Good things are […]

🤎 Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light. -Brene Brown Anytime I mix fruit and florals I am reminded of that one summer I painted fruit on signage for the local plant nursery where I also watered plants, and maybe definitely took naps on giant bags of mulch. 🤎 Braved a wisteria bumblebee gauntlet twice today on our walk. 🐝 Off to grandma’s house to check on the peonies. Everything seems to be blooming late this year. It’s been a day, y’all. When my daughter fell asleep earlier than usual for her nap I knew she wasn’t feeling 💯. Took her temp and she had a fever. 🤦🏻‍♀️ A bee visits around 100 flowers per foraging flight, with a maximum speed of up to 19 miles per hour. When things feel heavy (and my daughter is fast asleep) I retreat into what I call my aimeecave. In the cave I detach a bit and pour myself into a project or three. Projects with no expectations; took some watercolor and procreate classes on Skillshare, then watched some Netflix. Also went and got a check-up and scheduled my mammogram.
