to be clear

I’ve posted previously about this being a difficult year for so many of us and, honestly, I believe it’s probably going to continue that way. I had an interesting conversation with a friend yesterday about the lenses through which we view the world…lenses that are affected by our good and bad experiences – our weaknesses […]

October 2020 desktop wallpaper

It’s the last day of September and I’m sitting here at my computer, watching my daughter watching way too much of The Wiggles. Click here to download the October 2020 desktop wallpaper. Hang in there!Stay safe, be well, drink more water, wash your damn hands, don’t touch your face, wear a mask (over your NOSE […]

new day

Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year. He is rich who owns the day, and no one owns the day who allows it to be invaded with fret and anxiety. Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and […]

if I fall

This week finding the right words has been difficult for me. My Dad passed away and I am feeling all “these things”; frustrated that I cannot put words on all of it. I’m not dreaming anymore. Not even the nightmares. Not for days. It’s unsettling. Grief, itself, has a unique strangeness. It grabs you and […]

owly shadow puppets

I’ve had two nightmares in two nights. Not so fun. But it made me think about what things parents can do to help their kids not be so afraid of the dark. (Not that I’m afraid of the dark…much) Step one: a nightlight Step two: a story Step three: make something that’s scary into play […]

work / life balance

This is something I often struggle with. Do you know when to say “when” when it comes to your workload? Do you schedule yourself to near death? I pretty much do. Although this year I’ve taken huge steps to eliminate stress (bye, bye freelance overload) and practice better self-care (healthy food, daily exercise, more face […]

Always 🤎 Take a deep breath, and a moment to be proud of all the progress you’ve made. 🤎 🤎 Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light. -Brene Brown Anytime I mix fruit and florals I am reminded of that one summer I painted fruit on signage for the local plant nursery where I also watered plants, and maybe definitely took naps on giant bags of mulch. 🤎 Braved a wisteria bumblebee gauntlet twice today on our walk. 🐝 Off to grandma’s house to check on the peonies. Everything seems to be blooming late this year. It’s been a day, y’all. When my daughter fell asleep earlier than usual for her nap I knew she wasn’t feeling 💯. Took her temp and she had a fever. 🤦🏻‍♀️
