chocolate pancakes

School started back up (in Florida) and pretty soon it will be “Fall”…it will still be 75 degrees, but we’ll all pretend it’s not. We’ll switch from ice tea/coffee to hot pumpkin chai whatevers, ditch the flip flops for boots (short and tall), then change out our chachkis (tiny gourd, anyone?) We tend to be […]

hello french toast

French toast, also known as eggy bread, Bombay toast, German toast, gypsy toast, poor knights, or Torrija, is a dish made of bread soaked in milk, then in beaten eggs and then fried. – Wikipedia Back before I knew gluten was a problem for me I would go almost every Sunday morning to my favorite […]

here i am, with cake

Did everyone have a nice weekend? It was Easter weekend for those that celebrate. As usual, I hadn’t really planned on doing anything major for the holiday. After goofing off with Mac and the cat for most of the day on Saturday (photo evidence: instagram), I decided to make a bunny cake. It’s one box […]

tangerine trees and marmalade skies

…where rocking horse people eat (gluten free) marshmallow pies… Today was Beatles day… for me, anyway. I’ve got a lot going on that requires complete concentration so I have to have ear buds fully engaged. For a few days I listened to Nine Inch Nails (matched my mood) but once I got all that out […]

it's yummy, it's purple!

Resident best friend, Emily, invited me over for dinner this past Sunday. She’s a great cook and has no fear of new recipes, no matter how complicated. She whipped up some Chicken Cassoulet using a recipe from her Eating Well cookbook and it was really good! I have to say, though, that the highlight of […]

🤎 Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light. -Brene Brown Anytime I mix fruit and florals I am reminded of that one summer I painted fruit on signage for the local plant nursery where I also watered plants, and maybe definitely took naps on giant bags of mulch. 🤎 Braved a wisteria bumblebee gauntlet twice today on our walk. 🐝 Off to grandma’s house to check on the peonies. Everything seems to be blooming late this year. It’s been a day, y’all. When my daughter fell asleep earlier than usual for her nap I knew she wasn’t feeling 💯. Took her temp and she had a fever. 🤦🏻‍♀️ A bee visits around 100 flowers per foraging flight, with a maximum speed of up to 19 miles per hour. When things feel heavy (and my daughter is fast asleep) I retreat into what I call my aimeecave. In the cave I detach a bit and pour myself into a project or three. Projects with no expectations; took some watercolor and procreate classes on Skillshare, then watched some Netflix. Also went and got a check-up and scheduled my mammogram.
