biscuits + berries

Made gluten-free buttermilk biscuits for me and about 12-13 of my invisible friends over the weekend. Just now getting around to finishing them off, actually. The first thing I did was get a recipe online here…then I just switched out the regular flour for GF flour. It wasn’t until I got home from the store […]

hello french toast

French toast, also known as eggy bread, Bombay toast, German toast, gypsy toast, poor knights, or Torrija, is a dish made of bread soaked in milk, then in beaten eggs and then fried. – Wikipedia Back before I knew gluten was a problem for me I would go almost every Sunday morning to my favorite […]

breaking bread

I conducted an experiment last weekend where I followed this recipe for Cranberry Swirl Bread, traded out the cranberries for apricot preserves, and used gluten-free flour instead of regular ol’ all-purpose flour. IT. WAS. A. COMPLETE. DISASTER. I started over with regular flour (because failure is not an option and I was making BREAD, damnit!). […]

oh, hunny

Mini Whole30 update: Yesterday I decided that I would have a gluten-free birthday cake next month for my 38th. I searched online for local bakeries, thought about making it myself. It’s not a “huge deal”. I’m not having a party or anything. But I fixated on birthday cake(s) for a good hour, hour and a […]

wild apple magazine

I’m not a fan of recipe hacks. You know, the ones. SUPER YUMMY (GLUTEN FREE) CUPCAKES. While I’m doing my Whole30 I cannot do grains of any kind so there are no cupcakes in my near or distant future. Since overhauling my diet, I haven’t been searching out substitutions for desserts or treats. What I […]

Always 🤎 Take a deep breath, and a moment to be proud of all the progress you’ve made. 🤎 🤎 Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light. -Brene Brown Anytime I mix fruit and florals I am reminded of that one summer I painted fruit on signage for the local plant nursery where I also watered plants, and maybe definitely took naps on giant bags of mulch. 🤎 Braved a wisteria bumblebee gauntlet twice today on our walk. 🐝 Off to grandma’s house to check on the peonies. Everything seems to be blooming late this year. It’s been a day, y’all. When my daughter fell asleep earlier than usual for her nap I knew she wasn’t feeling 💯. Took her temp and she had a fever. 🤦🏻‍♀️
