Coping with Grief After a Sudden Loss

We will all lose something or someone precious, eventually. In an effort to learn how to better process the complex emotions attached to loss I might read about grief more than the average person. We get stuck. Everyone gets stuck, though. Don’t they? I find it’s helpful to begin with where I’m coming from so […]

Is Lovevery Worth It?

The house smells like coffee and apple-bourbon-pumpkin candle. There are dishes in the sink and Bamba peanut butter puffs on the breakfast bar. In the background a locally produced TV show about things to visit/try around town (unironically) just ended and an infomercial has creeped into the void. Thankfully it’s a breezy day. I’ve opened […]

November 2020 desktop wallpaper

Here we are…November! My modest goal this year was to post one desktop wallpaper each month and probably not much else! Pretty sure I’ll reach that goal! (better schedule the December post now just to make it certain.) We all know the terrible ways in which 2020 has exceeded our expectations. So, rather than commiserate, […]

plot twist

In a little over a week I’ll be 43. Forty. Three. In a little over a week I’ll also be going into my third trimester…with my first child. (gasp!) This time last year I was learning that I might be on the autism spectrum. It wasn’t a shock, but it was news. To be honest, […]

Yes, we are.

Hey, guys, I’m here. Just like you, thinking heavy thoughts about things happening in the U.S. – from caging children, ignoring the true death toll in Puerto Rico, the reckless endangerment and MURDER of journalists, to daily reminders of the gross incompetence and corruption of our elected officials, the forsaking of the weakest among us, […]

type with pride

Loving this animated Gilbert typeface from Animography. You can download the static Gilbert font (free!) from Type with Pride. The animated font is also free, if you’re into Adobe After Effects (you so fancy!) Hasn’t it been the shortest longest year ever? Lately, my anxiety is at level 8 or 9.  Feeling overwhelmed by the […]

🤎 Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light. -Brene Brown Anytime I mix fruit and florals I am reminded of that one summer I painted fruit on signage for the local plant nursery where I also watered plants, and maybe definitely took naps on giant bags of mulch. 🤎 Braved a wisteria bumblebee gauntlet twice today on our walk. 🐝 Off to grandma’s house to check on the peonies. Everything seems to be blooming late this year. It’s been a day, y’all. When my daughter fell asleep earlier than usual for her nap I knew she wasn’t feeling 💯. Took her temp and she had a fever. 🤦🏻‍♀️ A bee visits around 100 flowers per foraging flight, with a maximum speed of up to 19 miles per hour. When things feel heavy (and my daughter is fast asleep) I retreat into what I call my aimeecave. In the cave I detach a bit and pour myself into a project or three. Projects with no expectations; took some watercolor and procreate classes on Skillshare, then watched some Netflix. Also went and got a check-up and scheduled my mammogram.
